Ileana Makri Diamond Drop EarringsUnless you’re a hugely successful business tycoon or married to royalty, you’d have to be living in an alternate universe to consider spending over two thousand pounds on earrings, or any jewelery for that matter.

But it’s still nice to look, and these Ileana Makri White Diamond Drop Earrings are certainly pleasing to the eye, but devastating to the wallet. Retailing at £2,360, they’re the height of extravagance, but definitely the real deal, diamonds and all. The product description calls them ‘everyday’ earrings, but I’d imagine that’s ‘everyday’ wear for princesses, rather than ‘everyday’ at the office.

For such a high price you can guarantee that these earrings are well made, high quality and built to last, probably forever. And diamonds never go out of fashion.

View the earrings and other ridiculously priced jewelery over at Brown’s.

The Return of Accessorize

September 4th, 2008

Accessorize Gold BangleI’ve been avoiding Accessorize for a while, as the prices seemed to be going up and up and the quality was getting worse and worse. But it seems that finally the company have got themselves back on track and reduced those rocketing prices.

This Plain Gold Bangle is only £5 and is great for adding detail to a simple outfit. The faded colour gives it a vintage look, and the embossed design makes it look worth a lot more than £5. If you’re lucky enough to be sporting a summer suntan, the colour of the bangle would offset it perfectly.

Accessorize have also got some great bargains on thinner bangles, you can pick up 12 (almost an entire armful!) for just £4.

Head to your local store or browse online.

Lunarrastar Jewellery

September 1st, 2008

Lunarrastar Blue Lady Victorian Cameo NecklaceI prefer handcrafted jewellery, rather than items mass produced by a machine. That way you can guarantee no-one else will have the same piece as you, and you’ll sound ultra cutting edge when people ask where you buy your jewellery.

Lunarrastar is a small jewellery company who have a studio space in Edinburgh, and sell their products online. They use natural gemstones, Swarovski crystals and vintage pendants to make necklaces, bracelets and earrings. They have great attention to detail and, even better, their jewellery doesn’t cost the earth!

Being a vintage fan, I think this Blue Victorian style Cameo necklace is one of my favourites. The blue colour is spot on and contrasts well with the white, and the Swarovski crystals and silver heart charm add detail and make it look even more unique. It’s available in three different lengths for the perfect fit, and costs just £15.99.

It’s available only on Lunarrastar’s website, and whilst you’re there have a look at their other lovely items.

Red Strawberry Brooch

August 26th, 2008

Red Strawberry BroochI love vintage looking brooches, and am currently on the look out for a new one to go on my (as yet unpurchased) winter jacket. Last year I had a lovely silver horse, but sadly after several months of wear and tear it’s legs snapped off, so I’m looking for something a bit sturdier.

The Red Herring range at Debenhams has some lovely clothes, and after some research it seems it’s got a great jewellery range too, including some brooches. I’m tempted by the winged horse, but after the demise of last year’s I’m leaning towards this one, a Red Strawberry Brooch. It’s shiny gems and vibrant colour make it unique and eye catching, and it’s definitely unusual. The detailing also makes it seem a lot more expensive than it it, there are black beads for seeds and a jewel detail on the stem gives it a 3D effect.

It costs £8 and you can get from Debenhams online or instore.

Disney Couture

August 21st, 2008

Disney Couture Magic Castle NecklaceYou’re never too old for Disney, and now ASOS have launched a great line of jewellery to prove it! Disney Couture is a range of necklaces, earrings, bracelets, rings inspired by Disney characters and themes, exclusively for big kids.

The high end products are a firm celebrity favourite, being sported by Lindsay Lohan, Kate Bosworth and Nicole Richie, as well as being featured in Vogue and Harper’s Bazaar.

My favourite is this cute Magic Castle Necklace. This is the very embodiment of all things Disney without being too cheesy or having Mickey Mouse draped round your neck (although the infamous ears are available as Swarovski necklace pendant if you fancy it!).

At 27 inches, this is a fairly long necklace, so wear it with a plain top to make the colours stand out. It’s 14 Ct gold plated and costs £40, so definitely a grown up piece of jewellery worth taking care of!

The whole range is available from ASOS now.

Gothic Frame Ring

August 12th, 2008

Dorothy Perkins Gothic Frame RingCostume jewellery is the ultimate accessory to have for Autumn/Winter – the rule is the bigger the better – pile on as many necklaces as your neck will take! Create an over-the-top effect with metres of chains, or just go for one huge statement piece. And, according to fashion bible Vogue, it doesn’t matter if your ‘diamonds’ cost £20 or £200. This great ring from Dorothy Perkins combines a statement piece with one of Autumn/Winter’s key trend, a gothic inspired look. And the best part? It costs less than a tenner!

The Gothic Frame Ring is great for accessorizing during the day, or will work really well with a black evening dress. The intricate framing detail makes the ring look a lot more expensive than it is, and the all black effect gives a super classy effect.

Get it now at Dorothy Perkins in store or online for £9.

Topshop Necklaces

August 8th, 2008

Winged Horse NecklaceTopshop has a great new range of necklaces, covering all of the key trends from bows to tribal to bright colours. Whatever you like wearing round your neck, I can guarantee there’ll be a necklace for you.

Being a fan of horses, I think this Winged Horse Necklace is my favourite. On a simple chain, the small silver horse charm is set off by the diamante detailing on the wings, and it has an antique, vintage feel about it. On a 15″ chain it’s long enough not to ge
