Tatty Devine A/W 08 Collection

Wednesday, September 24th, 2008

Tatty Devine Big Paperclip NeckalceTatty Devine is a cult jewellery brand that’s been receiving loads of attention over the summer. Their collections are known for not taking themselves too seriously, and taking inspiration from everyday objects rather than diamonds and pearls. They make jewellery from things no one else would think of, making them completely unique – they rarely follow the current fashion trends. Their A/W 08 collection is no different, as it takes its inspiration from stationery! There’s paper clip earrings, a pencil sharpening necklace and a big gold star brooch.

It’s certainly an unusual collection, but if you’re after something different that no one else has, then look no further.

My favourite is this Big Paper Clip Necklace. It looks just like giant paper clips linked together, and it’s over a metre long, so can be worn loads of different ways. You can have silver paper clips or coloured ones.

It costs £69 and you can buy online or if you’re in London you can visit their stores in Soho or Brick Lane.

Ileana Makri Diamond Drop EarringsUnless you’re a hugely successful business tycoon or married to royalty, you’d have to be living in an alternate universe to consider spending over two thousand pounds on earrings, or any jewelery for that matter.

But it’s still nice to look, and these Ileana Makri White Diamond Drop Earrings are certainly pleasing to the eye, but devastating to the wallet. Retailing at £2,360, they’re the height of extravagance, but definitely the real deal, diamonds and all. The product description calls them ‘everyday’ earrings, but I’d imagine that’s ‘everyday’ wear for princesses, rather than ‘everyday’ at the office.

For such a high price you can guarantee that these earrings are well made, high quality and built to last, probably forever. And diamonds never go out of fashion.

View the earrings and other ridiculously priced jewelery over at Brown’s.

Lunarrastar Jewellery

Lunarrastar Blue Lady Victorian Cameo NecklaceI prefer handcrafted jewellery, rather than items mass produced by a machine. That way you can guarantee no-one else will have the same piece as you, and you’ll sound ultra cutting edge when people ask where you buy your jewellery.

Lunarrastar is a small jewellery company who have a studio space in Edinburgh, and sell their products online. They use natural gemstones, Swarovski crystals and vintage pendants to make necklaces, bracelets and earrings. They have great attention to detail and, even better, their jewellery doesn’t cost the earth!

Being a vintage fan, I think this Blue Victorian style Cameo necklace is one of my favourites. The blue colour is spot on and contrasts well with the white, and the Swarovski crystals and silver heart charm add detail and make it look even more unique. It’s available in three different lengths for the perfect fit, and costs just £15.99.

It’s available only on Lunarrastar’s website, and whilst you’re there have a look at their other lovely items.

Disney Couture

Disney Couture Magic Castle NecklaceYou’re never too old for Disney, and now ASOS have launched a great line of jewellery to prove it! Disney Couture is a range of necklaces, earrings, bracelets, rings inspired by Disney characters and themes, exclusively for big kids.

The high end products are a firm celebrity favourite, being sported by Lindsay Lohan, Kate Bosworth and Nicole Richie, as well as being featured in Vogue and Harper’s Bazaar.

My favourite is this cute Magic Castle Necklace. This is the very embodiment of all things Disney without being too cheesy or having Mickey Mouse draped round your neck (although the infamous ears are available as Swarovski necklace pendant if you fancy it!).

At 27 inches, this is a fairly long necklace, so wear it with a plain top to make the colours stand out. It’s 14 Ct gold plated and costs £40, so definitely a grown up piece of jewellery worth taking care of!

The whole range is available from ASOS now.

Tribal Trend Grows Bigger

Wednesday, January 30th, 2008

beadeddropearrings.jpgIt wasn’t long ago that I was writing about how tribal jewellery looked to big this season, well it seems to of taken of a treat and I have some more pieces to share!!

Check out my tribal pointers first though before taking the plunge in buying your first piece. For starters if you want to look ultra authentic then go for brassy gold’s and tarnished silver. If it’s more of a craving for bright colours you are after then stick to beaded finishes. We all want something that looks original so keep your eye out for chic handmade pieces from market stalls – especially when you are on holiday.

magnetic-bracelet.jpgSome may want to go for the whole tribal look, so try out tribal make up too with bronzed skin, strong eyebrows and orange lips to create the perfect tribal trend.

Dorothy Perkins have some great tribal accessories at the mo including theses beaded drop hoop earrings for that colour injection you might be craving. They are just £8.00 and can be bought on line or in store. ASOS also have some great beauties like this multi row magnetic bracelet for just £16.00 – so do tribal on the cheap.

They are the type of earring that could be worn come day or night. You could really dress them up with a sexy black number or more simply add a classic touch to a plain tee and jeans.

Buy your very own Juicy Couture Bow drop earrings at for £46.00. They would make a lovely gift for a special friend, if you can resist keeping them for yourself!!

Garden Boutique

Wednesday, January 16th, 2008

dickieanklet.jpgI have recently been introduced to a quirky jewellery site that goes by the name of Garden Boutique.

It was started in 2001 by two friends that were passionate about fashion. They have since achieved creating gorgeous jewellery that is unique and personalised. You can choose from a selection of bracelets, ankle bracelets, necklaces and earrings.

clusterearrings.JPGYou don’t tend to see many ankle bracelets these days so I was definitely drawn to this piece. It’s a subtle sterling silver dickie bird ankle bracelet and costs £69.00. This is the kind of piece that will look great when you start showing a bit of leg again in the warmer weather.

I also loved these perspex stick clusters on drop earrings. They are hand cut and cost £56.00 – very classy. All items can be bought online at and you have the choice of a gift wrap service for each purchase.

Fab Feathers

Thursday, November 29th, 2007

featherearrings.jpgThe feather is this seasons must have accessory, whether it’s a bag, an item of clothing or a hair piece, we all must own some form of feathery friend.

The simple and subtle feathered look is more my style which is why I couldn’t resist these classy and elegant Big Feather hook earrings by Alex Monroe. They are made from sterling silver and are brushed with a silver shine. This pair would really set off a stunning evening dress and would guarantee you shined all night long.

They’re not cheap at £140.00 but at least with a silver feather you know it’s going to last a life time unlike a material one. Get your big feather earrings at

B'Jewelled Crystal Drop Earrings

Thursday, November 29th, 2007

dropearrings.jpgI adore drop earrings and recently found these elegant three tone pair created from silver sterling and amethyst swarovski crystal.

These little beauties create enough sparkle to turn any day outfit into a glam evening ensemble. They catch the light in all the right places leaving a radiant glow on your face. This effect is sure to attract all the right attention – wink wink!!

These delights have been designed as part of a set with matching necklace, bracelet and ring – imagine all that sparkle. All pieces can be bought separately so you can add to the collection at any time. All you are required to do is click on to and order away.

Try not to let the name of the website put you off as this website is stocked with reasonably priced goodies. You will find these earrings for just £40.00 which I don’t consider to be too bad for sterling silver and crystal.
